When are Black Friday and Cyber Monday this year?
Black Friday—the day after Thanksgiving—falls on November 29 this year. Cyber Monday occurs the following Monday on December 2. Both are huge shopping days since retailers offer massive discounts on products you’d typically pay full price for. It’s a perfect time to start your holiday shopping or treat yourself to something new.
What can we expect from these early Black Friday deals?
A lot of retailers start markdowns earlier than Black Friday, which is really handy if you’re worried about getting gifts in time for the holidays or if you’re actually shopping to get ready for the season—maybe you need a new appliance for your holiday cooking? This year, we’re already seeing Black Friday-level discounts at retailers like Amazon, Target, and Walmart. Some of these sales require you to sign up for a subscription or rewards program, like Walmart+, in order to get access to the full savings. But in a lot of cases, you can hop on these deals with zero strings attached.
Can I find better discounts online or in-store on Black Friday?
In our experience, the deals tend to be the same online and in-store during Black Friday, so we recommend staying home and shopping from the comfort of your couch. For one thing, it gets you access to stores that aren’t close to you. It’s also easier to compare prices at various retailers when you’re shopping online, so if you’re looking for a particular product, you can check out its price on, say, Amazon and Target, then go with the better deal. A lot of retailers also offer free shipping during Cyber Week. So really, why drive to the mall at midnight when you could go to sleep instead?
