Welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight! I, @zombiepie, am once again honored to be your host as we review the site-related news and best community creations from the previous week!
Well, I know it depends on where you are in the world, but we are in the full swing of fall in the United States. With people readying themselves for Thanksgiving, please keep in mind that things might be quiet during the last week of November. Nonetheless, if you need your Grubb fix and you need it soon, consider checking out the LV1 Gaming stream he recently guested on where they tested their knowledge of games that actually released in 2024 .
Let’s give props to Shawn for providing a daily stream and chat feature last week! Also, his thumbnail game has been incredibly on point. If you haven’t given Days Of Shawn a watch yet, here’s a handy episode guide:

Lastly, we have some solid details about Giant Bomb’s plans for covering The Game Awards this year !
On Wednesday, December 11, which is the night BEFORE The Game Awards, the Giant Bomb team will gather for a special edition of GB @ Nite Live! This stream will be hosted by Jeff Grubb and will feature an in-person rotation of guests and staff that discuss a variety of topics including the upcoming awards show.
Then, on December 12, Giant Bomb will be collaborating with the team at GameSpot to do a live pre-show event on at 2:30pm PT. This 2-hour show is an official partnership between Fandom and The Game Awards, which will be called “GameSpot’s Countdown to The Game Awards”. The crew will be outside the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles doing interviews, predictions, and “man on the street” segments.

It’s true: We were donated THE copy of Big Rigs used in @alex_navarro’s legendary video review for GameSpot. We don’t really know what to do with this but we’re thinking of getting it framed 🖼️ pic.twitter.com/NxAy8pChz5

Giant Bomb Blight Club Patch Progress (By: @fobwashed)
Over on social media, friend of the site, Fobwashed, has been showing off his embroidery work. He has showcased two Giant Bomb-themed patches! The first combined the Sun of May on the Philippines flag with the Giant Bomb logo. The second patch is still a work in progress. However, the Blight Club patch is definitely already looking good.

Over on the official Giant Bomb Discord, which the link above provides an invite to, Chron made this photoshopped work of goodness by merging Dan with the “This Man Is Super Wrong But Also Very Loud, So Who Knows” meme and it considering how close we are to GOTY stuff, it just works.

Indie Game of the Week 397: Anuchard (By: @mento)
One console to rule them all.
Moderator Mento has a new “64 in 64” blog and this episode tackles Nuclear Strike 64 and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3! One of these games is a new entry in their Top Ten and the other is decidedly not that high on their list! I wonder which game it could be…
Anuchard is the latest pick for Mento’s “Indie Game of the Week” feature and you can read all about why they admire the game’s ambitious presentation and its confronting of heavier and headier subjects of greed even if they felt like its gameplay was a little “basic.”

Is The Mainstream 7/10 Review A Myth, Hyperbole, Or Real? (By: @topcyclist)
What do you think is the origin of the hate for the 7/10 review? Do you think review sites and reviewers actually err towards it with games with rough edges or is the rep of the 7/10 a myth?
I Wish I Was In My Teens Or Early 20s So I Could Wear The “This Is Not An Xbox” T-shirt (By: @bigsocrates)
Why do so many of you hate seeing this review score?
I mean… just look at that t-shirt design. For as half-baked as Microsoft’s “This Is An Xbox” marketing campaign feels, there is a part of me that loves their new Xbox merchandise connected to it because it evokes a by-gone era of the video game “console wars.”
Lists How many of you are putting Balatro in the top spot on your GOTY list?

Wiki Of The Week
Half-Life 2
My favorite part about the Half-Life 2 anniversary documentary is the anecdote of Gabe getting attacked by a shark and almost dying while diving off the coast of South Africa.
Continuing with the theme of looking at games that celebrated their 20th anniversaries, this week’s edition of the Wiki of the Week is for Half-Life 2! It still stands as one of the most influential FPS games ever made and our wiki page definitely has almost everything about the game covered!
